Our Founder

Clélia Compas

Founder and President

Clélia Compas has always been driven by her love for the mountains and her desire to help displaced populations. After graduating from the London School of Economics (LSE), she became a consultant in migration issues at the United Nations office in Thailand, where she set up integration programs for migrants, refugees and survivors of human trafficking in South East Asia. Two years later, she returned to Europe to undertake a PhD in Migration Studies at the University of Sussex. She founded YAMBI in July 2020 in parallel with the writing of her thesis.

Christine Janin

The first woman in the world to have been to the North Pole, the first French woman to have climbed the Everest, and the founding director of the association A Chacun son Everest! Dr. Christine Janin has an unparalleled knowledge of the mountains and the benefits of mountain sports on the physical and mental health of their practitioners.

Freeride snowboard world champion 2017, vice world champion 2018, and again world champion in 2019, 2020 and 2021, Marion is passionate about winter sports which she has been practicing since she was young at the Chamrousse club. It is her long-standing commitment to displaced persons that led her to become a YAMBI ambassador.

Leo Slemett

Freeride World Champion 2017, Léo grew up in the mountains of Chamonix, where winter sports quickly became his passion. Addicted to skiing, Leo is always looking for new non-skied areas to leave his mark. It is his desire to help refugees discover his region that led him to become a YAMBI ambassador.
